Homemade Rice Cereal for Babies

Did you know you could make your own rice cereal for your baby? No need to buy the boxed stuff from the store. It is so easy to make your own, healthier version out of brown rice. Here’s how you do it. (Note: this is for babies 6+ months old)

By simply using a box of whole grain rice, you can create a healthy version of rice cereal for your baby.

Blend the rice up until it is a dusty, very fine texture. WARNING: a food processor did not work well for this. I used my coffee grinder. A blender or a Magic Bullet would work as well. I ended up doing about 3 cups worth and just saved it in an air tight container.

To make the rice cereal, bring 1 cup of water to a boil. Add 1/4 cup of your blended up rice. Stir once and reduce heat. Cover and let simmer for about 8-10 minutes stirring occasionally.

After rice cereal has cooled, store in an air tight container in the fridge. It should be good to use for 3-4 days.

If your baby doesn’t like the taste at first, mix it in with a fruit that he or she likes. They’ll scarf it right down without even knowing about the healthiness they just consumed 🙂
