Cheap and Easy Decorating Idea: Paint the Inside of a Glass Vase

I KNEW I was keeping all those glass vases for a reason!

How to paint a glass vase

This is such an easy craft project. All it takes is a leftover flower vase and some paint.

Simply pour some paint into the inside of a glass vase and swirl it around with a paint brush. Let it dry and do a second coat to cover up any spots you missed.

A few tips:

  • Do a few coats. Make sure to let each coat dry in between. This will help fill in any streaking you may have.
  • On your second coat, dilute the paint with a little water (assuming it is a water based paint which most craft paints are). Since it’s a bit more runny, it will swirl around a bit more and fill in those light spots.

I liked painting the inside of vases so much that I went around my house and found some other ones to do. It’s a really thrifty way to decorate a room or to add color accents that you want!

I just did this with Mason jars. Turned out really cute. Had ruled out fresh flowers because of the water being next to the paint. Did your paint still hold up okay?

I probably should have mentioned that… water in the painted vases does not work. At least with the paint that I used. Glad your jars turned out cute!
