Whether a first-time mommy or a weathered veteran, we believe every mother has some valuable wisdom that she’s gleaned along this crazy journey we call parenting. Mommy Spotlight highlights a mom who is striving to create a thriving home in her own unique way.
Today’s Mommy Spotlight is, Sarah, a creative blogger from Create Studio. We are excited to have her share a little about her life with us.
Tell us a little about you and your family…
I’ve been married for almost 8 years (April 24th!) to Kyle and I have two kids. Owen is 4 and Trey is 1 1/2.
What are some things you love about being a mom?
I love knowing that I get to have a part in shaping the character of two of my best friends for life.
What is one of the hardest things about being a mom?
Being a mom really does shed light on just how very selfish and sinful I am.
What is some advice you would give new moms or mommys-to-be out there?
Cleaning and scrubbing can wait till tomorrow,
for babies grow up we’ve learned to our sorrow.
So quiet down cobwebs, dust go to sleep.
I’m rocking my baby and babies don’t keep.
As a mom, how do you keep yourself spiritually healthy?
I surround myself with wise older women who can build me up spiritually and who will challenge me when I’m out of line. I’m also very aware of my role as an influencer to the younger women who look up to me. So I guess you could say that I keep myself spiritually healthy by both being poured into and pouring into others.
What Bible verses have encouraged or shaped you as a mom?
Colossians 2:2-3 is my parenting goal and it’s sitting proudly displayed in my kitchen. “My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.”
Here’s my free printable of Colossians 2:2-3 if you want one for your kitchen.
What are a few of your favorite baby/kid products?
You can put one in your diaper pail and it will safely eliminate odors for a month!
I’m obsessed with my stroller because it is A) Cheap! and B) easy to maneuver, has tons of room in the bottom for your stuff and C)it’s a frame that will hold your car seat, then it converts to a seat that will face you for when the kid is a toddler, then the seat flips around when the kid is older… seriously it’s like three strollers in one:
3) Paci Clip
My favorite baby product of all time is this paci clip and not just because I designed it, but because it stays on, it’s not matchy-matchy or too cheesy, and you can make your own with this tutorial.
Any tips or tricks on saving money as a mom?
Buy Luvs diapers, they are made by the same people who make Pampers, and they are WAY cheaper!!
Be organized! If you’re organized you won’t buy four tubes of butt paste because you can’t find the tube you bought yesterday… ugh! Here’s a post about how I organize.
