Thrifty Decorating Idea: Hangers + Yarn = Personalized Decor

Ready or not, Tyler William will be here no later than April 30th! Because of a previous c-section, my doc doesn’t want me to go too far overdue so in case I don’t go into labor on my own, our little man will be joining us April 30th. Wahoo! However, I really don’t want  another c-section so if you think of it, pray that I go into labor before!

Anyway, I’ve been working on some finishing touches for his room and saw this idea somewhere on Pinterest. I couldn’t get the best pictures since I did most of the project at night but I tried to somewhat document what I did in case you wanted to give it a try.

To start, I gathered a few wire hangers that we didn’t need.

I started by untwisting the hangers and then bending and twisting them into a rough form of his name. Pliers were helpful in this process.

Then, to smooth out the wire and make it more like I wanted, I wrapped strips of duct tap

e all around the wire.

I started by using green yarn. My plan was to just use this but I realized after I had wrapped it all, it needed a second layer. There were places the duct tape showed through and I had envisioned the yarn being thicker. Also, after I saw the green, I wasn’t that crazy about the color so the next layer I did was brown.

I had also planned to hang it above his changing table but nixed that idea as well. As of right now Ty-Guy’s name is hanging on his door.

This was a pretty easy project- give it a try!
