Cherry Yogurt Bread: A Bread Machine Recipe with SO Much Potential
Try this delicious, moist bread that’s a cinch to throw together in your bread machine. It’s even fantastic for french toast!
Ingredients
- 3/4 cup water
- 1/2 cup cherry yogurt (preferably organic)
- 1/4 cup all-natural applesauce
- 1 1/4 teaspoons salt
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar (or unrefined cane sugar)
- 3 cups white bread flour (Notes: I used all-purpose flour and it worked fine. I also have subbed one cup of white flour with wheat flour and it still turned out yummy with no noticeable flavor change.)
- 3/4 cup dried cherries
- 2 teaspoons fast rising yeast OR 3 teaspoons active dry yeast

Great recipe guide. These are the changes I felt were in order…..Mine took one 5.3 oz lite cherry vanilla Greek yougurt, 1 T. Neutral cooking oil. I used grapseed, 1 T. Sugar, I used coconut palm sugar. Added 1/2 c. chopped pecans and 1/2 c. dried cranberries. Baked on white bread, medium crust setting, 1 1/2 lb setting. Beautiful loaf.

Thank you for the feedback and suggestions, Diane.
I’ve used a bread machine for years, I’ve never bothered to heat the water, and my bread always turns out well. (Okay, I made a doorstop once, but that’s because I forgot to put in the yeast!)
This looks so yummy! It is in the breadmaker right now. My only question is did you heat your water? All of my breadmaker recipes call for the water to be between 115-125 degrees. Can’t wait to try it as French toast like you said.

I did this on a 2 lb loaf for white bread- does that sound accurate?
Gosh, I’m sorry. I really don’t know. Every machine is different. Mine just tells me Medium, Large or Extra Large. I’ve never weighed them to see. Sorry I can’t be of more help!
Ok, this bread looks really good. I just had cherry bread for the first time, but it was from Bob Evans. I’m sure your version is much healthier! Since I’ve never made anything with cherries other than using cherry pie filling, what type of cherries did you use for your bread? Thanks:)
Melissa- I’m so glad you asked! I used dried cherries. I got them at the store in the section with raisins and other dried fruits. I’ll make sure to specify that ingredient in the post. Good luck!
this bread sounds incredible! i will definitely be trying it soon. 🙂
