Welcome to day four of our weeklong series: Kitchen Favorites.
Each day we will feature a category of kitchen items that we either use and personally recommend or that come highly reviewed from a trusted source. You can find all of these recommendations in one place on our Kitchen Resources page.
Kitchen Favorites: Utensils

Kitchen Shears: Kershaw TaskMaster Shears
Stainless-steel blades offer good edge retention, corrosion resistance and are easily separated for cleaning and sharpening. Partially serrated shears equipped with a nutcracker, jar opener, lid lifter, bone notch along one blade, plastic over-mold handles and two screwdriver tips.
Spatulas: OXO 3 Piece
Set includes a small spatula, medium spatula, and a spoon spatula. Silicone is the safest material when working with hot foods.
Pastry Brush: OXO Good Grips Silicone
The silicone is easy to clean and more durable than the typical brush.
Wooden Cooking Utensils: 5 Piece Bamboo Set
Bamboo cooking utensils are the bomb. They are cheap, durable, safe, and won’t harm nonstick surfaces.
We recommend using a metal spatula since it comes into contact with hot temperatures so frequently. Just be careful not to use them on nonstick surfaces.
- Chef’s Knife: Victorinox Fribrox Pro Chef Knife
- Paring Knife: Victorinox 3.5 Inch Paring Knife
- Slicing Knife: Victorinox Pro Slicing Knife
All Purpose Wisk: OXO Good Grips 11 inch Balloon
Since this is something you’ll likely use frequently, it’s worth getting a quality one.
Measuring Cups: Amco Stainless Steel
I’ve been through my share of measuring cups and finally landed on getting some solid, stainless steel ones.
Measuring Spoons: Cuisipro Stainless Steel
If you go with cheap spoons, they’ll bend, warp, and eventually wear down. Go with stainless steel!
