I have a tendency to be rather hot or cold when it comes to reading. Sometimes I have so many books I want to read that I can’t keep track of them all. Other times I’ve got nothing on the reading list and no desire to add to my list of nothing. My worst habit is starting a book and not finishing it. I’ve got shelves of half-read books at home that I plan to get to some day.
I continually swing back and forth on this pendulum. For example, I’m currently in the middle of 4 books. Yes, four. Can you guess which end of the pendulum I’m at right now? 🙂
Here’s the rundown of my current reading list:
Quite possibly the best book I’ve ever read on prayer. What I like about this book is that it motivates you to pray rather than guilt tripping you into prayer. I try to read a chapter a day in this during my quiet times and really meditate on some of the teachings. I can’t recommend this book enough!
OK- so I might have already finished this one. I couldn’t put it down! I stayed up multiple nights WAY too late reading this amazing true story about the life of a World War II soldier. It gave me a perspective of World War II that I had never thought about. It’s one of those books you continually think about when you aren’t reading it and even after it’s over.
Loving the Little Years: Motherhood in the Trenches
Love this book. So does Rachel. A must read for moms! Read Rachel’s book review for more info.
My husband and I are reading this together. It’s REALLY good. About once a week we sit down, read a chapter out loud, and process a bit together. It has sparked some really good discussions about the purpose of our marriage as well as helped us identify some dangerous tendencies we have. I’m so glad to have read this in the early years of our marriage.
Every one of these books was recommended to me by someone. That’s pretty much the only way I pick up a book. So my question is, do YOU have any recommendations? We’d love to hear about them!
