Super Food Smoothie Recipe

…with a Super Food Smoothie.  It’s such an easy, tasty way to start your day with several servings of fruits, vegetables, and lots of fiber.

Here’s the approximate Super Food Smoothie recipe, but feel free to experiment with what you have on hand.  I usually just add more banana, fruit, or juice to sweeten it up if needed.

Super Food Smoothie

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup orange juice
  • 3/4 cup 100% cranberry juice
  • 1/21 cup organic plain yogurt (I use Stonyfield Organic Plain Yogurt)
  • 1 banana
  • 1/4 cup pure pumpkin puree (or leftover baked sweet potato)
  • 12 cups organic baby spinach (I’ve found it is almost tasteless in the smoothie)
  • 2 cups frozen mango, pineapple, organic peaches (I use a mixture of whatever frozen fruit we have on hand)
  • 1/21 cup frozen organic berries (Our favorites are blueberries and strawberries.)
  • 2 tablespoons ground flaxseed Why eat flaxseed?

Instructions

  1. Put the first six ingredients (OJ through spinach) in the blender and blend until smooth. Then, add the frozen fruit and blend until smooth. Add more liquid if needed. Add more banana, fruit, juice, or honey, if you prefer it sweeter.

I own a vitamix and it is so worth the price for what it does and power just throw everything in and walk away and everything is evenly blended can make flour, hot soups and so many other items I put allot of spinach and carrots in my smoothies you would never know. Love it and Costco always buy from there. Your’e site is wonderful full of inspiration.

Hey Devin, We have an Oster BCBG08-C 6-Cup Glass Jar 8-Speed Blender. After a lot of research, I determined it high reviews for crushing ice/making smoothies (higher than Vitamix on one site!). I’ve been pretty happy with it…especially for the price.

I have been salivating over a Vitamix as well. We’ve burned through 3 blenders in the last year making smoothies. It might be the time to bite the bullet…wait a magic bullet won’t quite be what we need. Anyway, they do sell refurbished ones for less, and I’ve had friends find them at Costco…but we don’t have a membership.
