Cinnamon Toast in the Oven

Once you try the broil method for Cinnamon Toast you will never eat it any other way again! Making Cinnamon Toast in the oven is a game-changer for this classic recipe.

Ingredients

  • 4 slices bread
  • 4 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 1/21 teaspoons cinnamon

Instructions

  1. On baking sheet, lay out the bread slices. 
  2. Generously butter each slice with about 1 tablespoon of softened butter.
  3. Sprinkle a little cinnamon over the bread followed by 1/2 teaspoon of sugar per piece. 
  4. Adjust the top oven rack of your oven to about 6 inches below the broiler. Place the baking sheet of prepared bread in a cold oven and turn on the broiler to high. 
  5. Broil about 3 minutes. Timing will vary depending on your own. You know it’s done when the butter is bubbling and edges begin to brown. 

Notes/Tips

  • Softened butter is key to this working. It needs to be spread out evenly over the bread. 
  • Don’t preheat the oven. This will cook the toast too quickly, not allowing it to caramelize. 
  • You can easily scale this recipe up. Great for groups! 
  • You don’t have to put the toast on a baking sheet. It can go straight on the oven rack if you want.
