Alphabet Train: Toddler Learning Activity

Polly Conner
By: Polly ConnerPosted: 11/13/13Updated: 2/11/21

Alphabet Train. Great DIY learning activity for preschoolers!I’m always looking for creative learning games that my toddler will engage in. Here is a fun one that helps toddlers with letter recognition that we have been doing as of late. I saw it on Toddler Approved and thought I’d give it a shot.

Alphabet Train Letter Game

Using a circle punch that I bought, I punched out 26 circles and wrote a letter on each one.

On some cardstock cards (that were pre-cut) I wrote two letters per card and taped them to the wall. IMG_0365

Using my Silhouette machine, I cut out a train shape. If you don’t have a cutting machine, use this stencil I have provided for you. Cut the stencil out, trace around it on the paper you want to use and then cut it out. IMG_0360

I used painters tape below each letter to make sticking and removing the letters easy.

Now, encourage your toddler to match up the “wheel” to where it goes on the train. You can make it fun for them by letting out a big “choo choo!!” every time they get a letter in the right place. Trust me. They’ll love it!
