Polly’s Testing Tips

  • It is important to use a metal baking dish like this one. If you must use glass or ceramic, drop the baking temperature by about 15°F and increase the baking time by 5-10 minutes.
  • If you want the chocolate chips to show, sprinkle some on top of the batter before baking. Otherwise they hide underneath.
  • If you want a more firm center, cook 30-32 minutes. Keep in mind every oven is a little different!

Ingredients

The ingredients in this Blondie Brownie Recipe are quite simple. In fact, you may have them all on hand like I did.

How to Make Blondie Brownies

As I said, this dessert is super easy to whip up! See the recipe below for all details, but here are the basics…

Prepare the Batter

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.

In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter and brown sugar until combined. Stir in the eggs and vanilla.

Using a spatula, add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients. Gently stir and fold just until combined. Stir in the chocolate chips.

Bake

Spread batter evenly in the bottom of the baking dish. Bake on the center oven rack.

How to Freeze Blondies

Freezing Blondies
Let blondies cool, then cut into portions. Wrap in plastic wrap and place in a freezer-safe bag or container. Freeze up to 3 months.

To Serve:
Thaw at room temp for 1–2 hours, or warm in the microwave/oven before enjoying.

FAQs

How long do blondies stay fresh?

Blondies can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days or in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.

Can I add other ingredients to Blondies?

Absolutely! Many people like to add chocolate chips, nuts, dried fruit, or other tasty mix-ins to their blondies for added flavor and texture.

How do I know when they are done baking?

The edges should be golden brown and the center should be set but still slightly soft. You can test for doneness by inserting a toothpick into the center of the blondies – if it comes out clean or with a few crumbs, they are done.

Can I cook these in a 9×12 pan?

Yes, but they will be thinner and will only need to cook 22-24 minutes. Longer if cooking in a glass dish.

Do I have to use brown sugar?

Yes, brown sugar is a key ingredient in giving Blondies their distinct butterscotch-butter taste.

These are so yummy! Easy to make and I was able to double the batch for a school bake sale. They turned out great, I usually don’t like this type of brownie, but the photo looked so good and I’m glad that I tried them out. I will be making them again!
