Why We Love This Condiment

  • Like most of our homemade condiments, takes only 5 minutes to make.
  • Uses simple pantry staples.
  • No cooking required.
  • Perfect balance of creamy, tangy, and savory.
  • Stores well for quick meals all week. We’ll give you lots of ideas of how to use it!

Ingredients

Check the fridge or pantry for these 5 main ingredients…

Ingredient Notes

  • Since you are only using a few ingredients, I suggest buying high quality ones with the fewest and/or highest quality ingredients.
  • A few of my clean-ingredient faves are organic ketchup, Avocado Oil Mayonnaise, and Lea &  Perrin’s Worcestershire sauce.
  • Yellow mustard is preferred for the classic fast food joint flavor, but you can certainly use Dijon mustard for a bolder, more gourmet flavor.
  • It’s kind of hard to find pickles that don’t have food dye or preservatives in them, but sometimes I have luck in the health food section or even with the little cornichons in the charcuterie area.

How to Make Secret Sauce

Mix it. 🙂

Seriously, that’s it. Combine all the ingredients in a small bowl and stir until smooth and fully combined.

Refrigerate until ready to serve. The flavor gets even better after it chills for a bit.

Ways to Use Our Secret Sauce

Smash Burgers

These Smash Burgers rival any fast food chain. When grilled correctly, the edges are perfectly crispy and the middle is still juicy and flavorful. The addition of our secret sauce truly takes them to the next level.

Cheeseburger Egg Rolls

This egg roll recipe combines all the flavors you love in a burger into one hot and crispy roll. Your family and friends will beg you to make these again. Don’t skip the secret sauce for dipping!

Steak Fries

Who doesn’t love dipping fries? Our oven-baked steak fries are healthier and less messy than frying, but oh so delicious dipped in our secret sauce!

Recipe FAQs

Can I make it ahead? How long does it last?

Yes! Secret sauce lasts about 2 weeks in the refrigerator.

Can I freeze the secret sauce?

No. We find that anything with mayonnaise in it just doesn’t do well when frozen.

What makes this a “secret sauce”?

The name is a play on the fast food “secret sauce”. But honestly it’s just a simple combination of creamy mayo, tangy ketchup and mustard, savory Worcestershire sauce, and the bright punch of dill pickle juice and chopped pickles. Simple ingredients, big flavor.
