This 5-ingredient Asian Sesame Salad Dressing recipe couldn’t be easier or tastier. A few Asian-inspired pantry ingredients shaken up together yield a savory, nutty, tangy, salty vinaigrette that tastes amazing atop a crispy green leaf or slaw salad.
Why to Make Your Own Salad Dressing?
- Less ingredients – You know exactly what’s in the dressing. Unlike store bought kind.
- It is easy – Homemade Salad Dressings only take minutes to make.
- It tastes better – Fresh ingredients area always better. One of the many reasons we love homemade condiments like our Southwest Ranch Dressing and Cilantro Lime Vinaigrette.
Ingredients Needed
As with most homemade dressings, the ingredients are simple and most are likely in your pantry. Here’s what you’ll need for this Asian-inspired dressing:
Ingredient Notes:
- Soy sauce – Use coconut aminos for a gluten-free option.
- Sesame oil – Just a little bit to add a nuttiness in the background.
- Ground Black Pepper – No salt needed because of the soy sauce…just a little pepper for mild heat.
How to Make Asian Salad Dressing
Add all the ingredients to a mason jar with a lid, or a quart-sized freezer bag. Seal tightly and shake until combined. Taste and adjust the seasoning to your preference.
Storage Tips
Refrigerator Storage: This dressing can be stored in the refrigerator for 1-2 weeks. When ready to use it after storing, let it set on the counter for a few minutes and then give it a good shake.
Freezer Storage: You can also freeze this dressing in a mason jar (leave 1 inch of head room at the top), a freezer container with lid, or a freezer bag for up to 6 months. Thaw in the refrigerator or in a cold water bath. Set on the counter for a few minutes and shake well until re-combined.
Ways to Use Asian Salad Dressing
This vinaigrette goes well over our Asian Slaw (in place of the written dressing).
I also enjoy this dressing on top of a leafy green salad with sliced almonds, sunflower seeds, sliced green onion, and mandarin oranges. So fresh, crunchy, and delicious!
Bonus: You can also use it as a marinade for Asian Salmon, Asian Chicken, or shrimp, too!
