What kind of air fryer do you use?

We both use the 6 quart Instant Pot Vortex Plus Air Fryer and highly recommend it.

Here’s what we love about it:

  • America’s Test Kitchen said it’s #1 in their tests.
  • Extra-large capacity. (I fit 12+ meatballs in it.)
  • Wide drawer-style basket that is easy to remove and insert.
  • The drawer and cooking rack are dish washer safe.
  • Super easy to use digital controls.

How to Make Air Fryer Sweet Potato Cubes

Like our Air Fryer Baked Potatoes, this recipe is very simple.

  1. Toss the cubed sweet potatoes in oil and seasonings.
  2. Preheat the air fryer and add the potatoes.
  3. Cook for 10-12 minutes, giving them a flip half way through.
  4. Serve immediately. Take it to the next level by serving with Avocado Aioli for dipping.

Air Fryer Tips

Try these tips to get the best results when using an air fryer:

  1. Preheat your air fryer: Preheating your air fryer can help ensure that your food cooks evenly and becomes crispy.
  2. Use the right amount of oil: While air fryers require less oil than traditional frying methods, it is still important to use some oil to achieve a crispy texture.
  3. Don’t overcrowd the basket: It is important to leave some space between the food in the air fryer basket to ensure that the hot air can circulate around the food and cook it evenly.
  4. Shake the basket: Shaking the basket halfway through the cooking time can help ensure that your food cooks evenly on all sides.
  5. Use a meat thermometer:  If you are cooking meat like our Air Fryer Chicken Thighs or our Air Fryer Turkey Burgers, use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature of your food to ensure that it is cooked through and safe to eat.
  6. Experiment with cooking times and temperatures: Every air fryer is different, so it may take some trial and error to find the best cooking time and temperature for your favorite foods.
  7. Clean your air fryer regularly: Regular cleaning can help ensure that your air fryer operates at its best and that your food doesn’t pick up any off flavors or odors from previous cooking sessions.

FAQs

Can I add in other vegetables in with the sweet potatoes?

Yes, you can toss in other root vegetables such as carrots, potatoes, or parsnips. Just be sure to chop them to a similar size.

Can I prep Air Fryer Sweet Potato Cubes in advance?

It’s fine to prep the cubed sweet potatoes an hour or two before cooking, as long as you toss them with the oil. Otherwise, they will turn brown.

What if I don’t have rosemary?

You can substitute 1/4 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning for the rosemary.

How should I store and reheat leftovers?

While the cooked sweet potatoes will loose a bit of their texture, they are still quite good to enjoy as leftovers. To store, cool completely and store in the refrigerator in an air-tight container. To reheat, place in the air fryer and warm up with the “reheat setting” for a 1-2 minutes or until they are warm.

Instructions

  1. Prep Sweet Potatoes: Peel and dice sweet potato into 1/2-inch cubes. (You can also just scrub the potato well and leave the skin on for more nutrition, if preferred.) In a mixing bowl, combine the cubed potatoes, oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and fresh rosemary.
  2. Air Fry: Preheat air fryer to 400°F. Spray the bottom of the tray with cooking spray. Place the potatoes in a (mostly) single layer in the air fryer tray. Cook for 10-12 minutes or until crispy and golden, shaking halfway through.
  3. Serve: Taste and season with more salt, if needed. Suggestion: Serve with Avocado Aioli for dipping.

Notes/Tips

  • You can substitute 1/4 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning for the rosemary.
  • Try to dice the sweet potatoes as evenly as possible to ensure even cooking.
  • Serve with Avocado Aioli for dipping.
