Our freezer friendly Salmon Burgers were born straight out of my trips to Alaska. These burgers don’t have an overpowering fishy taste, making it a great recipe for introducing salmon to kids or the non-fish eater in your life. When salmon is on sale, double the batch and make a freezer meal out of them for later!
For years now, my dad has taken the long journey from Missouri to Alaska to go fishing. He typically comes home with an abundance of halibut, trout, and salmon that he graciously shares with us.
I’ve even been a few times with him myself. Here is the moment that I caught my very first Salmon and was attempting to pick it up. (I had no idea I was being filmed.)
While on his trips, my dad has always been skilled at drawing out wisdom from the locals about the best ways to cook and serve the fish he has caught.
This recipe was born out of one of his Alaskan conversations, but we’ve made it even more delicious by tweaking a few ingredients and adding a light bread crumb coating. These burgers retain the salmon flavor and texture but don’t have an overpowering fishy taste, making it a great recipe for introducing salmon to kids or the non-fish eater in your life.
This recipe can be found in our cookbook, From Freezer to Table.
